Store Card

A store card is a payment card that is credited with funds that are redeemable at a particular store or group of stores. In Australia, a 'store card' can be similar to a 'gift card', without the cheap-sounding word 'gift' attached.

Gift cards are not always appropraite. For example, a number of insurers like CGU and SGIC allow insurers to settle claims via store cards with one or more major retailers.

Another kind of 'store card' is the store credit card. These are usually co-branded VISA or Mastercard credit cards that are tied in with loyalty or rewards programs associated with the store in question. David Jones has a popular store card, as do a number of large retailers.
